Hecho en Philly was designed in partnership with Anne Harrison and Linda Fernandez to bring attention to the makers, artists and creatives working in Philadelphia today. The Hecho en Norris Square Craft Market focuses on the creative community in eastern North Philadelphia and utilizes public space in Norris Square Park as a venue to showcase emerging and established vendors from 19122 and 19133. Local food trucks curated by The Food Trust's Night Market participate by selling a variety of good eats from local food vendors. In 2015, Hecho en Norris Square was featured as part of the Center for Emerging Visual Artists Philadelphia Open Studio Tours. This project seeks to ask and explore the following key questions while using artmaking as an engagement tool; how can money and resources stay in the community? How can neighbors support each other economically? And how can communities affect their hyper local economy? Hecho en Philly also aims to continue conversations about what it means to buy local from your neighbors and the impact this has on the greater community. Hecho en Philly has been supported by LISC, Norris Square Neighborhood Project, Village of Arts and Humanities, Leeway Foundation, The Food Trust, and Puffin Foundation.
